Life is 99% work and 1% inspiration -Thomas Edison

Growing up on a farm and playing sports throughout my youth didn’t exactly set me up as the artistic type. My immediate family, though brilliantly creative, are the professional antithesis of “artists.”

Over the years, I crossed paths with accomplished artists—mostly painters who work with oils. I struggled to understand the purpose and meaning behind colored pigments emulsified in oil and splattered on a firmly stretched bolt of linen.

Recently, through experience, loss, and transformation, a deeper understanding emerged from the ashes of my torched past. Paint on the canvas—exquisite as it sometimes turns out to be—is merely a byproduct. The temperature, intensity, and persistence of the fire burning inside us fuel our individual growth, collective knowledge, and faith as we advance—temporally and perpetually—toward the unknown.

Art is emotional expression, a byproduct of the human experience. It is also a precious gift we leave behind for those who follow.

Anomalia Films explores, expresses, and celebrates our fiery human experiences. I will keep my fire burning—and stoke the fires of those who precede me, if they need it—by capturing their expressions of understanding through film.
